Our Organic Beef
Mar 8th, 2012 by hortonparkfarm
We are confident that the beef we produce is amongst the finest you will ever eat. We are organic in our farming methods at Horton Park Farm and every animal is carefully selected, hung for a minimum of 26 days before being expertly butchered, packed and labelled in order for you to receive the finest quality beef possible.
Producing beef of this distinction from our fields to your fork takes well over three years from conception and each stage is carefully monitored to ensure we get it right every time.
In the summer our South Devon cows graze the extensive North Downs, they are truly free range. In the winter they are housed in purpose built (2008) cattle buildings and fed on home grown organic clover silage and wheat and beans.
Traceability is second nature to us, and we can tell you exactly how each and every animal was bred.
Our beef is noted for its exceptional quality, flavour, tenderness and taste. Mark Sargeant from Rock Salt in Folkestone said: “Many of us have now tried a little piece of beef and the general consensus is that it’s possibly some of the best beef we have ever eaten. Even the top side and silverside are so tender that we can happily use them for roasting.”
The Farriers Arms at Mersham now orders a whole animal every few weeks from us. Their next delivery will be on 23rd May after hanging for 28 days.
The beef needs ordering well in advance to allow for hanging times and matching orders. We know it is worth the wait.
We sell our beef as mixed boxes with a selection of all the cuts. A standard box usually contains: 2 fillet steak, 4 rump steaks, 4 sirloin steaks, a mixture of slow and fast roasting joints, braising steak, stewing steak [ready diced] and premium mince. We try to give new customers a two rib roast but unfortunately do not have enough ribs for every box.
However the exact contents may vary depending on the size and conformation of each individual animal. An average box weighs 18 – 22 kilos @ approx. £9.95/kg. This fits into a box measuring 58 x 38 x 15 cm.
Bones are supplied free of charge for customers who collect.
Collection can be arranged for local customers or for those further afield delivery is in specially insulated and chilled boxes for an additional charge of £22.00 + vat.
