Arable

Currently, we are farming around 1500 acres of arable land, growing a variety of crops in a varied rotation. A good rotation is important from an agronomic perspective to manage the soil health and reduce weeds and diseases. In addition it removes the risk of marketing one commodity. Here at Horton Park Farm we produce high output cereal crops including wheat and barley in conjunction with break crops, such as oil seed rape and spring crops of beans and peas in a 4-year rotation. Grass leys and maize are also incorporated into our rotation, which we cut and store as silage to feed the cattle over winter. Our focus is producing crops of the highest quality, including milling wheat for bread and biscuit making, as well as crops for seed, which are grown on contract with seed merchants.
